Office of Personnel Management Director to Visit Maxwell School
John Berry will discuss Federal personnel policy issues at public talk
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director John Berry will deliver a speech this afternoon, Monday, November 2 at the prestigious Maxwell School at Syracuse University. Entitled "A Merit System for the 21st Century," Berry's speech will focus on Federal human resources issues and public policy.

In his talk, Berry will discuss -- for the first time -- merit in the context of a modern workforce. He also will address how to increase flexibility and fairness in human resources policies; how the Federal government can motivate good performance; and how the Federal government can educate, train, and develop workers over the course of their careers.
In addition, on Tuesday Nov. 3, 2009, at 10 a.m., Director Berry will meet with Maxwell Dean Mitchel Wallerstein. Their meeting will be followed by a roundtable discussion with undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in pursuing careers in public service.
